Migraine in the Morning

I woke up this morning with a migraine, but, of course, being the only human in the house, I had to get up and walk the dog anyway. After I fed all the animals, I went back to bed, feeling a bit queasy, and I never was able to go back to sleep or doze as I usually do until the actual time when I like to get up. The pain was just too miserable.

Brain from “Pinky & the Brain”I was hoping that by getting up and facing the day, the pain would fade a bit as it sometimes does, but taking a hot shower didn’t help. In fact, my feet ached as I washed my hair — a sign that my fibromyalgia is flaring up as well. Pain pushed at my forehead making me feel as if it were mutating outward and the back of my neck felt as if all of the vertical nerves were stretched tight as could be. Any which way I turned my head little streams of pain would tentacle outward slowly in that direction as if floating in a giant sea of liquefied brain matter.

I tried a few sips of cold caffeine and a few bites of cheese — I would have preferred some toast or shortbread cookies but I don’t keep bread in the house and I ran out of cookies two days ago and refuse to go to the store just for cookies. Now I don’t even have cheese, which I rarely eat at home also. Neither helped dent the pain or the queasiness.

However, being the only human in the house, I still had to get dressed, throw some make up on, walk the dog again and go to work. Someone has to pay the bills and try as I might, I have yet to convince any of the animals to get a job that will help keep them in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.

At work, I had some breakfast and some Maxalt as well as my usual morning meds. I’m hoping it’ll do something. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t.
