Go Local

Are you tired of feeling like another anonymous face when you walk into national chain mall trendy shop? Do you feel awash of deja vú every time you step into another big box store?

If you’re like me, you prefer to support locally-owned coffee shops, bookstores, clothes stores, pet supply stores and everything else when you can. I find that the owners and the employees are not only happier but they’re friendlier and they remember me, what I like, and they go out of their way to make sure I’m a satisfied customer so that I’ll come again. To thank them, I always talk them up and send customers their way.

If you’d like to find local businesses in your area, a good place to start is www.delocator.net; just type in your zip code and it will give you a list of locally-owned coffee shops, bookstores or movie theaters near you. Check them out and support your community.

Making your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they’re always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.

Darn it…looks like it’s not available in the US. However, I would gladly move to the UK to use this service! :-)

Duh, I just looked at this again, and it is available in the US. I only saw the link for the UK and Canada.
