Chocolate Does A Heart Good

I’m not a big chocoholic like I know a lot of people are. Today I’m craving some really good milk chocolate — nothing out of a vending machine or from that questionable corner store half a block away. We’re talking European Grade-A Quality stuff here, the kind you have to go to a specialty shop for, the kind you buy by the ounce, the kind you take tiny, savoring bites of so it lasts forever.

So, of course, an article about this study from Johns Hopkins University caught my eye because all I can think about is chocolate. ;) Apparently their results indicated that some chemicals in cocoa beans act like aspirin in preventing blood clots. Now, that doesn’t mean you should splurge on the biggest box you can find at Godiva, but a few ounces or two tablespoons-worth, the average amount the study participants ate, may offer heart-healthy benefits.

Want an excuse to eat chocolate? The next time your hubby or your diet buddy starts to scold you for indulging in a bit of melt-in-your-mouth goodness, just tell them that chocolate does a heart good.
