Oy. For some reason today my body is so sleepy that my eyes keep crossing as I try to keep them open.
I don’t know what the deal is. I slept well last night; heck, I even fell asleep in the middle of Journeyman – thank goodness I tape it! I’m dying to know if he saves the kid and prevents him from growing up to be a bad guy who kidnaps little girls and then comes after him and his family.
Yet, I keep yawning and doing that groggy head bob thing and my body would like to curl up anywhere and take a nap right now. I am dangerously close to falling asleep at my desk and causing some sort of keyboard-to-forehead injury to myself. Diet Pepsi and music from the iPod (set to the new holiday mix playlist)– not helping. I may go looking for something crunchy to snack on in a bit.
I don’t know how I’m going to get through this day. Thank God I don’t have any meetings scheduled! That would be the kiss of death.
What are some tricks you use to keep yourself awake on days when your body insists that it needs a nap and life insists you have to stay awake?

A 10-minute power nap usually does it for me. Don’t tell anyone, but at the office, I sometimes lock myself in the small locker room that we have and steal a VERY quick nap on the bench. I swear, sometimes 10 minutes is all that I need to revitalize myself!
The last hospital I worked at had really strict rules about sleeping/napping in the workplace. They were known to fire people for sleeping on the premise even when they weren’t on the clock. It had something to do with some belief that hospital employees should always be ready for anything while there.
I don’t know what the policy is here and I’m afraid to ask so I’m going on the assumption that it’s like the other one.
Anyway, it turned out that I was kind of sick yesterday. I had to skip aqua aerobics due to an upset tummy and a migraine. I’m sure that’s why I was so tired. My body just wanted to hibernate.
