Discombobulated Thoughts About Last Week On Television 11/11/07 - 11/17/07)
- Did anyone else notice that wicked cameo by Mercedes McNab, who was Harmony on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, as Lucy on Supernatural last Thursday? For those who missed it, Lucy was a newly made vampire Dean and Sam caught only she didn’t know she was a vampire; she was convinced that some guy she met at a bar had slipped some really messed up drug into her drink and she was really freaking out and couldn’t come down.
- I was somewhat disappointed in the departure of Sara from CSI. It wasn’t that she left or how she left that was so disappointing; for several seasons, the writers have been building up toward some sort of breaking point for Sara where she’s been feeling more and more hopeless as if no matter what she and the others do, they really aren’t helping anyone and crime and human depravity is just getting worse. I really thought the letter she wrote to Gil Grissom at the end talking about her father made no sense and came out of left field. It would have been better if they’d stuck with what they’d been writing toward.
- Would someone please give Jaime Sommers an athletic bra?

T.V. ESP
Over the weekend I had another one of my T.V. ESP experiences. Actually, it was a rather ESP-rich weekend.
I know you’re wanting a definition for that. What I mean is that sometimes I’ll get a feeling that some old movie or t.v. show is coming on television in a day or so. I can get down to specific episodes of old reruns even.
For example, I’ll be sitting in my car and think, “That episode of Roseanne where young Darlene has to read the poem in front of her class and she doesn’t want to but Roseanne makes her was a really good episode.” The thought will come out of nowhere. I haven’t watched a rerun of Roseanne in ages. I can’t even tell you was channel it’s being run on. Then later that day or the next, I’ll be flipping through the channels and there it’ll be — that episode of Roseanne.

I Watch Too Much Crap On T.V.
I’ve been pondering what to write for tomorrow’s Thursday Thirteen. I had finally settled on “Thirteen Television Shows Worth Setting Your DVR For”. However, when I started making the mental list, I realized that I only actually set my DVR for 9.
So, of course, I had to wonder why it is that the t.v. is on all of the time in my house if there is only 9 hours of t.v. worth watching a week and not all of those shows are on every week. For example, Monk has several short seasons a year and Heroes hasn’t been on in weeks and I’m not interested in its reruns anyway. If all I watch are new episodes of Supernatural, The Closer, Eureka, Burn Notice, and Psych, what am I doing with all my friggin’ brain draining time?
Oh, well, that is only seven, right?
Well…CSI (the Las Vegas one) and Law & Order (the original and maybe Criminal Intent) are on all the friggin’ time between Spike, TnT, Bravo, and USA. I can just put that on and it all just melts together. I really don’t need to set the DVR for it anymore.
It occurs to me that I’ve got the television on too much. I like having it on making noise in my otherwise too quiet house. However, it’s distracting. You can’t really read with the television on all of the time. You can’t really think that way either. I don’t think much gets done.
I think I’m going to have to rethink this. Maybe I’ll consider reprogramming myself so I only watch what’s on the DVR.
